ABOUT US

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is truly a remarkable institution that provides not only a world-class education but also endows its sons and daughters with an obligation of service to others. The National Hampton Alumni Association (NHAA), Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that works directly with the University to assist in fundraising, recruitment and public relations. The NHAA, Inc. assists Hampton University in fundraising, recruitment, public relations and its endeavor to provide education to meet the needs of its students. We develop relationships with alumni, current students, parents, and friends of Hampton University.

For over 50 years,  The Long Island Chapter actively promoted Hampton University in the Long Island and Queens communities. Organized in 1954, The Long Island Chapter of the NHAA, Inc. was founded by Eloise and Alton Burnett, Bobbie Croslin, Theodore Bethea, Gertrude Odom, Barbara Fleming, Fred and Lucille Lane,  Thelma Hughes, Louis Childs, Vada Jennings, Ethel Mason, and John Patterson, Sr. with Theodore Croslin as President.  These founding members laid a strong foundation, showing how to continue a life of service after leaving our beloved HU.

OUR VISION

The LICNHAA will encourage and develop a fraternal relationship among graduates, former students, parents, and friends of Hampton University.

WHAT WE DO

Our chapter participates in local college fairs, conducts a freshman orientation,   and sponsors a bus for Hampton's High School Day. The chapter also sponsors fundraising events to support our Chapter's Scholarship Fund as well as initiatives set forth by the University.

OUR COMMUNITY

The Long Island Chapter seeks to promote Hampton University in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties through community involvement and support of local students.
